"The Black Forest (der Schwarzwald) is a mountain range in southwest Germany, in the state (Land) of Baden-Württemberg, covered by a boreal forest. It is separated by the Rhine valley from the Vosges massif, from which it resumes the triangular shape and the type of relief, higher to the south. The culminating point is the Feldberg, which reaches 1493 meters. A very irrigated region, the Black Forest is crossed by the dividing line between the Atlantic Ocean and the Black Sea. The Rhine River bypasses the massif by the south and then by the west, receiving affluent Kinzig, Murg and, only in Mannheim, the Neckar River, which crosses the massif towards the north with its affluents, Enz and Nagold. The Danube River results from the confluence of Breg and Brigach and heads east. The Black Forest is classified as a Boreal Forest."
